Mercy's Behavioral Health Center serves as a regional resource for adolescents, adults, and seniors in need of inpatient and outpatient mental health services.

This beautiful center centralizes under one roof Mercy's mental health programs. In addition, two very necessary programs have been added which are not available elsewhere in Oregon outside the Portland area. Adolescent inpatient programs answer Southern Oregon's long-standing need for a resource for short-term assessment and treatment of 9- to 17-year-olds who suffer from depression, behavioral disorders, and other conditions.

In addition to programs for children and adults, the center places great emphasis on mental health services for seniors.

Mental illness affects millions. Approximately one out of every five Douglas County residents will suffer from a condition related to mental illness at some time in his or her life. In Oregon, the results of mental illness are especially pronounced in children. The suicide rate among children age 5 to 14 is nearly 80 percent higher in Oregon than the national average.

The good news is, with help, many people with mental illness can continue to lead productive lives.
